'Silicon Valley' actors recount being harassed by Trump supporters

Los Angeles, Nov 13 (IANS): "Silicon Valley" stars Kumail Nanjiani and Thomas Middleditch have said they were recently harassed by two US President-elect Donald Trump supporters in a bar here.

The actors took to Twitter on Saturday morning to recount their experience, reports variety.com.

"Was at a bar last night with Middleditch. At the end of the night, two white dudes, 20s, who had been there for hours came up to us," Nanjiani wrote, adding that they said they were fans but thought they were "wrong about Trump".

"I go ‘Hey we don't wanna discuss politics right now.' His friend goes ‘Oh they're cucks.' Then starts yelling at us. ‘Cucks Cucks Cucks!,'" Nanjiani, who has roots in Pakistan, continued.

"He starts getting in my face. Thomas puts his hand on the dude's chest to stop him. ‘Don't touch me you cuck. Wanna go outside?' At this point, the bouncer runs over, grabs them, kicks them out. The bartender is awesome and apologetic. Thomas and I are stunned."

The actor went on to write that he "can't imagine" what it must be like for people who look like him, considering the incident happened in a crowded bar.

"We can't let hate/racism/bigotry/sexism be normalised. If something happens, be safe, but let it be known we won't stand for this," he wrote.

"Many people are like ‘just because I voted for Trump doesn't mean I'm racist/sexist.' Okay, but at best, you ignored it, you overlooked it. We thought internet would give us access to people with different points of view. Instead it gives us access to many people with the same point of view."

Middleditch also tweeted about the incident.

"By the way, 'cuck' is an Alt Right term. Look it up, it's not positive," he wrote.

He later tweeted: "‘Cuck'. It's the new term Trump bigots use." He also shared a Wikipedia link to the word "Cuckservative".
