West Indies' PCL matches to be broadcast

Bridgetown (Barbados), May 25 (IANS): Plans are in the pipeline for region-wide broadcasts of the West Indies Professional Cricket League (PCL) regional four-day competition from this year, a joint statement from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and telecommunications provider Digicel has disclosed.

WICB and DIGICEL announced on Tuesday the new broadcast initiative will form part of a fresh momentum to support "the long form of the game, and the future of Test Cricket," reports CMC.

Broadcasting of the PCL matches to the region is among highlights of a new four-year agreement between the two organisations in support of the sport.

The deal also includes sponsorship of the women’s and U-19 teams in addition to the men’s senior team.

“The stunning recent successes of the men’s, women’s and U19 teams have once again broadened the appeal of the game and excited new audiences,” said John Delves, chief commercial officer at Digicel Group on Tuesday.

WICB and Digicel have inked a new agreement which will also involve coaching clinics across the region as well as branding and promotions.
