Mangalore:Ex CPI(M) Corporator Sadashiv Shetty Joins BJP

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (RD)

Mangalore, Sep 16: In a curious political development, Sadashiv Shetty, who contested twice in the past on with CPI (M) ticket in the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) polls, has joined the BJP>

Usually, the CPI(M) and the BJP ideologies are regarded as diametrically opposite to each other and any switching of loyalties between the two camps raises eyebrows.

"I have joined the BJP, because of its ideology," said Sadashiv Shetty to daijiworld.com.

It is common to see the disgruntled and disappointed aspirants from one party join another party, and it is a common feature as elections approach. Those who are sure of not getting the tickets from their present base,  queue up with other parties, with a clear objective of securing tickets to contest in local body or national polls.

Sadashiv Shetty, who contested twice in the past MCC polls, was sure that his party would deny him the ticket to contest the forthcoming MCC polls.  Accordingly, he took refuge in the  BJP, hoping for a party ticket to contest the civic body polls. However it is not yet known whether the BJP would oblige him with a ticket as a reward for defecting to their side.
