Patna, Jan 23 (IANS): Thanks to Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav, a French man who fell ill in Aurangabad while cycling from Varanasi to Kolkata with a friend got prompt medical help.

Theo Rohfritsch and Simon Valdenaire are in India as part of a 'cycle yatra' called Cycle for Water to spread the message of water conservation.

A district official said today that when they were passing through Aurangabad, about 150 km from Patna, Mr Valdenaire caught a cold and complained of uneasiness.

His compatriot sought help from the French embassy in New Delhi which contacted the External Affairs Ministry as well as the Bihar government.

This is when Tejaswi Yadav stepped in. He asked his Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) colleagues in Aurangabad to provide help to the two French citizens who appeared to be short of money.

"Tejaswi Yadav provided for medical help and arranged for a hotel for them to stay," an official said.

The Cycle for Water campaign began in France in July last year and will end in August 2016 in New Zealand - covering a total of 25,000 km and some 20 countries.
