Mangalore, Sep 7: Teacher’s day was celebrated in Sahakara Saudha, Kinnigoli near here on Wednesday September 5.

The programme was jointly organized by Rotary Club and Innerwheel Club of Kinnigoli.

Rtn Heric Pais, president of Rotary Club, Rtn K A Khader, former president of Rotary Club and Mallika Poonja presided over the function.

Dr Perla Radhakrishna Bhatt, lecturer of Pompeii College, Jessy D’Souza, teacher of Little flower High School and L N Bhatt, teacher of Rotary English Medium School were felicitated by the office-bearers of Rotary and Inner Wheel Club for their dedicated service in the field of education.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Perla Radhakrishna Bhatt said “Teachers prime duty is to educate the society. A teacher while accepting the teaching profession, it should be taken not only as livelihood but as a service to the society." Siriganda, a magazine of Rotary Club was inaugurated on the occasion by Rtn S V Shenoy.
 
Balakrishna Shetty, principal of SDPT College. Kateel introduced the teachers who were to be felicitated. Rtn Heric Pais welcomed the gathering while Mallika Poonja proposed the vote of thanks. Rtn K Balakrishna Shetty compered the programme.
