Mangalore, August 28:  The Election Commission of India has taken a decision stating that the photographs of all the Indian residents will be printed along with their names in the voters’ list for the coming elections, informed a press release here.
 
The Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner declared in the release that only those voters, having their photographs affixed in the list will be eligible to cast their votes.

The release informing about the formalites stated that those who have enrolled themselves in the voters’ list but not having their election ID cards as on January 1, 2007, can attend the programme of giving election IDs that will begin in the district from September 2007. However, those who do not attend and get their cards, will not be eligible to cast their votes forever, the release added.

 In case of voters who have lost their IDs can get fresh ones by paying a fine of Rs. 25. Mistakes in names and other information and changes in address can also be corrected on the occasion, by submitting the corrections in specified forms.
 
For additional information on the matter, voters can contact the tahsildars or the City Corporation, stated the deputy commissioner who is also the election officer for the district.
