Mangalore, Aug 17: Thirty three members of Blessed Joseph Vaz Society in Sri Lanka, visited the Blessed Joseph Vaz Shrine, Mudipu near here on Thursday August 16.  The members of society organised the pilgrimage to study the path treaded by Blessed Joseph Vaz, every year.

The members were greeted by Blessed Joseph Vaz Church assistant parish priest, Fr Lancy Saldanha. Parish council former vice president, Michael D’Souza welcomed the office bearers, on behalf of parish community and pilgrimage centre, by presenting roses.  Rolphy Mascarenhas elaborated on the backdrop of the shrine, the missionary work of Blessed Joseph Vaz besides the developments undertaken at the shrine. 

Elyarpadav parish priest, Fr Reginald Pinto concelebrated the Eucharistic mass along with other priests, attended by large number of parishioners. Later, the novena of Blessed Joseph Vaz and anointing of holy oil was held. Bola parish priest Fr Pradeep Correa was also present.

The pilgrims also visited Infant Jesus shrine at Carmel Hill and St Aloysius Chapel here.

This was the fifth visit to Blessed St Joseph Vaz Shrine, Mudipu by the pilgrims.  Convenor of pilgrims Correa, has been organising pilgrimage from Sri Lanka, since the past 15 years.
