Mangalore, August 17: An interactive session with Justice N Santhosh Hegde, former judge, Supreme Court Lokayukta state of Karnataka, on ‘Mangalore City and National Building Code’ was organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) at KCCI Exim Facilitation Centre, Bunder here on Thursday August 16.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice N Santhosh Hegde said that the problem that obstructs the Lokayukta from taking instant action on certain issues is the lack of technical officers in each of the district head quarters.

There is complexity in finding out excellent and expert retired technical officers, he said.

Numerous questions were raised during the sessions regarding illegal actions and procedures. Answering these questions justice Hegde said that under such cases it is better to get injunction from court or inform the concerned officer. He further informed not to involve police under such circumstances

He also said that the town planning has to be done with the coming 20 years. The contractors and those involved in the construction of a building have to see that they provide enough facility in a building, he informed.

He further said that the public parking spaces should be allotted in most of the places in the city.

Capt John Prasad Menezes president of KCCI, Kumble Narasimha Prabhu, vice-president, Srinivas Kamath and Shekhar Poojary, honorary secretaries and Ahmed Bava, honorary treasurer were present on the occasion.
