MSME courses in Mangalore: Short term crash courses in Auto CAD, DTP and Tally will be commencing from 20 August 2007 organised by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) branch at Mangalore, for the benefit of educated unemployed youth of Mangalore. Those who have completed 18 years of age are eligible to apply. On completion of the training a government of India certificate will be issued.

St Aloysius Advances: St. Aloysius College (Mangalore) entered the semifinals in the college section of the Independence Cup football tournament beating St. Philomena College (Puttur) with a 1-0 margin over here, on Saturday August 11. The winning goal was scored by Navreesh in the 17th minute.

Seven held for gambling: An open place at Korikatte in Panambur, was raided by Panambur police and they took into custody seven persons on charges of gambling here on Saturday. Police confiscated Rs. 1,385 in cash and playing cards from them.

The arrested have been identified as Vittal, Raghuveer, Ramesh, Rangaswami, Jagan, Somashekara and Dayakara. A case has been registered and investigations are on.

Tulu Bhavagana Kammata: Applications are invited from those interested in Tulu Bhavagana Kammata (workshop on singing Tulu lyrics) to be held at Udupi on August 19 and at Mangalore on September 9 between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm, by the Tulu Sahitya Academy.

The workshop is open to all irrespective of his/her age and can apply for the same specifying their name, full address, telephone no.s and also the place of workshop they prefer. The application should reach the academy by August 15, stated a release.

Expert Pre-University Science College: B Nagaraj Shetty, minister for Fisheries and Endowment will inaugurate a new laboratory of the college at Kalkunj road at Kodialbail today at 9.05 am.

Government Grant for Roads: A sum of Rs. 90 lacs has been sanctioned by the govt. for road works in Mangalore Taluka as per the district-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty.

While out of the Rs 90 lac, Rs 40 lac is given for construction of the Yedapadavu-Garadi-Manjanakatte road,   Rs 50 lac is earmarked for the Balvendi-Kayirani Road, Shetty informed.
