Mumbai, Aug 7: Veteran hotelier Shyam N Shetty has been unanimously elected as organizing secretary of All- India Human Rights Association (AIHRA) Maharastra Unit.

He was elected during the meeting held by the executive committee of AIHRA Maharastra Unit, recently.  AIHRA Maharastra functions at the leadership of former police officer Ramarao Ghadke.

Shyam Shetty, a hotelier of repute, hails from Nakre Balipagutthu in Karkala taluk.  He is a popular entrepreneur who has over 3 decades of experience in hotel industry in Mumbai.  He owns Shwetha Palace Hotel in Navi Mumbai besides Shetty Caterers. 

He is serving as honorary chief secretary of Navi Mumbai Hotel Owners' Association for the past 8 years after serving as its president.  Moreover, he is serving as treasurer of Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association Maharastra and executive president of Mumbai Bunts Association sports committee.  He is also a movie producer and director.  His Kannada movie, ‘Ivalanthaha Hendthy’ was screened in 1987.
