Mangalgorean Beauty Neethu Bags Best Supporting Actress Award for 'Koti Chennaya'

Bangalore, Jul 20: Another Mangalorean beauty made Mangalore proud by bagging Karnataka State government's prestigious Cine Award 'Best Supporting Actress' award for Koti Chennaya Tulu - Kannada movie.

The awards were announced on Friday July 20 in Bangalore. Another Tulu movie 'Badi' has been selected as Best regional movie.

The awards committee was headed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar,  Ismail, B K Sumitra, Shashidhar Adapa,  Damador Shetty, Ramakrishna and Basavaraj .

Young and emerging actor Neethu  hails from Attavar in Mangalore.  After her high school studies in Mangalore, she left for Bangalore for her further studies. She has acted in 9 different Kannada and Malayalam films so far. Jogfalls, famous award winning Kannada movie is one of her best films. Now she has received the award for her acting in Tulu movie.

Speaking to Aakash Poojari Polali, Daijiworld correspondent in Bangalore, she said "I am extremly moved with this award. It was my dream to act in Tulu movies and as every one knows 'Koti Chennaya' is a movie based on historic facts. I feel proud to be a Tulunadu actress and to win this award."

Reading novels,travelling, waching films are her other hobbies. A B A graduate from Jyothi Nivas College Koramangala Bangalore, Nithu Shree says, "I am looking for working in all kind of movies, but on selected roles. Though my preference is Kannada, I would love to work in other language movies also."

Recent superhit Kannada film Mungaru Male, directed by Yograj Bhat, swept as many as six awards including the one for best film at the Karnataka State cinema awards for 2006-07 announced on Friday.
 
Duniya and Cynaide were adjudged second and third best films respectively.

Kada Beladingalu has got the Special Film of Social Concern Award.

‘Duniya’ hero Vijay was adjudged best actor and took home the award named after Subbaiah Naidu while the best actress award went to Tara for her performance in ‘Cyanide’.

    The site has marvellous breath taking information that keeps tulu speaking people more affectionate to their land of origin, no matter where they educated and where they presently living, but surely once upon a time they were from/part of this culturally coloured beautiful land of “Tulu Nadu”

    My sincere gratitude to the people those who all put their sweating day and sleepless night to make this website not only a successful, but a more of reality to connect the news, events and much to the people around the globe.

    Daijiworld - fantastic site for Mangaloreans and Goans, I have ever come across. Only recently I came to know about it. Just superb and I salute you for keeping us informed of Mangalore events...good luck
