Bangalore, Jul 11: Bangalore city police have picked up six associates of Kafeel Ahmed, one of the accused in the foiled terror attack in UK, for questioning.

All of them were traced through phone calls and emails sent to Kafeel. ‘‘The six are Muslims and also follow Tablighi Jamaat. They had emailed him during the course of his stay in Bangalore from December 2006 to May 2007.

They are very close associates of Kafeel and also seem to have shared information about his ‘mission’,’’ said a police official. The police are trying to find out if they were part of the sleeper cell Kafeel had formed in the city.

Other friends and relatives are also being interrogated, while nothing concrete has been established from them, said a police source. Meanwhile, the police are also quizzing employees of Infotech Enterprises, where Kafeel worked during December 2005 and July 2006.

‘‘We have got other leads from the emails that he had received. We have tracked the IP addresses. A few of them are associates in Mumbai and Hyderabad, while some are in Bangalore,’’ said the source.

The police seem to be in a dilemma, with them being pressurised by ATS cell in Mumbai to verify the trios’ connection with the 7/11 train blasts. ‘‘They claim to be sending reports of the 7/11 blasts to us for verification.

There seems to be no link to that attack with the three Bangaloreans. We ourselves are trying to find the terror network created by the three in the city, and are still on the path to find any concrete evidence,’’ said an ATS official.

The Mumbai ATS wants the Bangalore police to share relevant information about the investigation here and to establish a link.

It is with regret from the community and like minded people I would say that every time a incident of this kind occurs every connected person to the culprit or branded culprit faces unnecessary interoggations for no reasons.  Today's world we do not know what exactly the other person is doing nor the parents and wife or children of the branded victim will know.  So it is unfair to be too hard to the the entire family or his friends and keep it tough will only bring negative results to the society and bring more moving into danger zones.

What we need to consider regular counselling services thru media and other centres and ensure the younger brains do not go ashtray and we need moral gods and not celebrities.  Get rid of the materialistic and shining world and come back to normal and moral values.
