Udupi, Jun 13: Bishop Aloysius Paul D'Souza who was on his way to St Anthony's Shrine at Kerekatte near Basrur escaped unhurt after his car met with an accident at Udyavar Bridge near here on Wednesday June 13 morning.

Eye-witnesses said that the Bishop's car was hit by a recklessly driven lorry at the entrance of Udyavar Bridge from Katpadi side.  Though Bishop's car was considerably damaged, he miraculously escaped unhurt.  He even reached Kerekatte and offered the Solemn Eucharist.

However, owing to the accident he reportedly arrived late for the mass at Kerekatte.  Sources said that Bishop continued his journey by another vehicle.

Speaking to Daijiworld Bishop's house sources said that it was a minor accident and there is nothing to panic as everyone in the car was safe.  None of them has even sustained a minor injury, said sources.
