Mangalore, Jun 6: The victory of Congress candidate in Ullal by-election is a wake-up call for JD (S)-BJP coalition Government in the state, said Janardhan Poojary, member of Rajya Sabha and former KPCC president.

Speaking at a press conference held in the Press Club here on Wednesday, he said that, with the winning of MLA’s seat,  the responsibilities of U T Khader and Congress had increased.  He wished Khader would become a model MLA in the state.

Speaking about the proposed ONGC project, Poojary said that, “The project would definitely come to the coastal region of Karnataka.  Union Petroleum minister, Mani Shankar Aiyar is trying to take it to Chennai. But, we will not allow it to happen."

The railway department had fully failed in Mangalore-Hassan broad gauge conversion.  No doubt, union railway minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav is an efficient minister.  But, he has also failed in commencing the train services on  Mangalore-Hassan rail track, he opined.

Regarding the supply of water of Mhadai river to Karnataka through Kalasa Banduri canal, he said that the text copy of Sonia Gandhi about her negative statements in respect of Karnataka is not available. Moreover, he stressed that he has full faith in her and she would never go against the interest of Karnataka.

Meanwhile, he called upon the JD (S-BJP coalition government not to politicize the project.  “Let us work together in solving the drinking water problems of north Karnataka,” he urged.

U T Khader and Congress leaders Harikrishna Bantwal and Vijayakumar Shetty were present on the occasion.
