Wolfsburg snap up midfielder Rodriguez

Wolfsburg(Germany) July 22 (IANS): Swiss football club FC Zurich's midfielder Francisco Rodriguez has moved to VFL Wolfsburg, the German club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder, whose brother Ricardo Francisco plays for Wolfsburg since 2012, has been signed for three years till June 2018. He will don jersey number 35, the club said on its official website, reports Xinhua.

"He is strong, fast, technically gifted and plays good through balls. He already earned a lot of experiences despite his young age," Klaus Allofs, Wolfsburg's CEO, said on Wednesday.

The Swiss Under-19 international made 28 appearances for Zurich, scoring two goals.

"I am very happy that my transfer to Wolfsburg worked out. I can prove myself here at the highest level. A dream has come true as I can play with my brother in one team for the first time," Rodriguez said.
