Defender Luis quitting Chelsea, says manager Mourinho

London, July 22 (IANS): England football club Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says Brazilian international defender Filipe Luis is close to quitting.

The 29-year-old played 26 matches for Chelsea last season after joining them from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid for 15.8 million pounds.

"In this moment we need a left-back because I think we are selling Filipe Luis now or tomorrow," Mourinho was quoted as saying by bbc.co.uk on Tuesday.

The club has been linked to 21-year-old Abdul Baba Rahman of German club Ausburg.

Mourinho, who led Chelsea to last season's English Premier League (EPL) title, also said the management is planning to add players to their squad only if others leave them.

"At the moment we don't want players. It's simple," the Portuguese said.

"We must be ready because it looks like the market is open, and there is always a risk somebody comes for one of our players or one of our players shows an interest in leaving," the former Real Madrid and AC Milan manager added.
