India beat New Zealand, progress to World Group Play-offs


Christchurch, July 19 (IANS): Yuki Bhambri and Somdev Devvarman won their reverse singles to help the Indian tennis team earn a come-from-behind victory 3-2 against New Zealand and progress to the Davis Cup World Group Play-offs here on Sunday.

After losing the doubles rubber on Saturday, Bhambri and Devvarman had to win their matches on Sunday to help India win the Asia/Oceania Group 1 second round tie on the indoor hard courts of the Wilding Park Tennis Centre.
