Bayern's Lewandowski in danger of missing remaining season

Munich, April 29 (IANS): Bayern Munich’s Polish forward Robert Lewandowski is in danger of being sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering concussion in the DFB-Pokal semi-final against Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern, recently crowned Bundesliga champions, were beaten 1-3 after a penalty shoot-out on Tuesday at their home ground -- the Allianz Arena.

Lewandowski, who scored for Bayern, collided against Dortmund goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak during the semi-final and did not take a spotkick during the penalty shootout.

Reportedly Polish team doctor Jacek Jaroszewski has revealed that Lewandowski has a fractured cheekbone and suffered concussion, which is likely to force him to sit out of Bayern's Champions League semi-final first leg against Spanish club Fc Barcelona next week, reports sportsmole.co.uk.

The striker's agent Cezary Kucharski has suggested that the striker can be out for longer time than only the match against Barcelona, as he tweeted: "After the investigation, it does not look good. I cannot write anymore."

Bayern clinched the Bundesliga title last weekend by beating Hertha Berlin 1-0 at the Allianz Arena.
