Assailants attack Fenerbahce's office

Ankara, April 25 (IANS): Turkish Super League football team Fenerbahce's office was attacked by a group of unidentified assailants here, who broke windows and computers.

The office was attacked with meat cleavers on Friday night. This is the second attack that targeted the club in a month, coming just weeks after a gun shot attack on their team bus in the north-eastern province of Trabzon, reports Xinhua.

The motive of the attack remains unclear. But the enmity between Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor, that first emerged with a match-fixing scandal, is believed to be the main reason.

In July 2011 Fenerbahce, who had won the league that season, was implicated in the match-fixing scandal, and Trabzonspor, who had finished runners-up, asked to be given Fenerbahce's domestic championship trophy.
