Boxer Shyam wins gold at Thailand invitational


Pattaya, April 8 (IANS): India's Shyam Kumar won a decisive bout to win the 49kg gold in the Thailand Invitation International Boxing Tournament here on Wednesday.

In the final, Shyam defeated local pugilist Surajit Thong Anand by a perfect margin of 3:0.

Later, Rohit Tokas and Manjit won a bronze each when they lost their respective semifinals.

Tokas had to settle for the bronze when he went down 1-2 to Kazakh Darkhan Zhumsakbayev in the 60kg category while Manjit lost the 69kg last-four battle to another local player Apichet Saensit 1:2.
