'Rudhramadevi' not just a war film: Gunasekhar

Chennai, April 6 (IANS): Filmmaker Gunasekhar says although upcoming Telugu period film "Rudhramadevi" is the eponymous story of the warrior queen, it's not entirely a war film. He says it's also a romantic drama.

"Though this is the story of the warrior queen Rudhramadevi; it should not be confused as a war film. There's enough romance in the film to appeal to all types of audiences. It's not entirely a war film," Gunasekhar told IANS.

Made on a whopping budget of Rs.70 crore, "Rudhramadevi" will be a visual spectacle, he said.

"The Kakatiya dynasty has been recreated with great difficulty. I'm sure audiences are going to love the experience of going back in time. It will be a visual extravaganza for them," he said.

The film is likely to hit the screens in May.

"The post-production work is in full swing. Illayaraja sir is busy with the re-recording in London. He is expected to complete in the next couple of weeks. We are expecting to release in May. The date is yet to be locked," he said.

Anushka Shetty essays the role of queen Rudhramadevi in the movie, which also features Rana Daggubati, Allu Arjun, Catherine Tresa and Nithya Menen in important roles.
