Kolkata, Oct 23: A bomb threat written on a piece of tissue paper was found at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Friday, prompting the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and a bomb squad to conduct an intensive search of the premises, officials said.
The handwritten note was reportedly found by cleaning staff in a women's restroom at a time when the airport was witnessing heavier-than-usual passenger traffic following the Durga Puja holidays. The note warned that a bomb had been planted at Gate No. 30.

According to sources familiar with the development, the cleaning staff panicked after discovering the note and immediately informed senior officials.
Security personnel swiftly cleared the crowd from the concerned entrance and launched a search operation at the location. The bomb squad and CISF personnel also searched other areas of the airport premises for any suspicious objects.
However, no suspicious object had been found so far by the CISF personnel or officials of the Airport Police Station, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bidhannagar City Police in North 24 Parganas district.
Police are questioning the cleaning staff who first spotted the note and investigating who was present near the restroom before and after the discovery, as well as who used it during the relevant period. CCTV footage is also being examined as part of the investigation.
Security has been tightened across the airport premises following the incident. However, there were no reports of any disruption to flight services so far.
This is the second bomb threat scare at Kolkata airport this month. On October 8, airport authorities received a similar threat through email. A thorough search was subsequently carried out across the premises, but nothing suspicious was found.
