Mumbai, Feb 24: Sadanand Shetty (70), founder chairman of Fouress Engineering and 'One India One People Foundation' passed away on Thursday night after a brief illness.

A prominent industrialist, Shetty was known for his social and charitable work and for his patriotism and nationalism. He founded ‘One India, One People’ magazine to promote national integration and secularism in the country and ran it for many years despite financial loss.


Man of many facets and many virtues

He was well qualified with BA LLB and MBA (USA) and was a prominent Rotarian in the city. He was also a visiting professor in 1961-62. He had held posts and positions in organizations like Shanmukhananda Fine Arts, Bombay University and Sangeet Sabha, and was member of Bombay Management Association, Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Indo American Society, Indo Chamer of Commerce and Industries, Indian Liberal Group and many other organizations.

He had provided employment to over 1,500 persons in the firms under his banner of 'Fouress'. He was an exemplary patriot, laying stress on national integration and harmony.

Originally hailing from Ninjur in Karkala taluk of Udupi district, he is survived by wife Soumyalata and three children.
