Atletico de Kolkata focussed on winning against FC Goa: Coach

Kolkata, Dec 9 (IANS): Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) are eyeing an outright win against FC Goa in their last round-robin game of the Indian Super League (ISL) Wednesday to qualify directly for the play-offs, coach Habas said.

Antonio Lopez Habas Tuesday asserted his team was also not thinking about the strategies or the course of events in the semi-final at this stage and is concentrating on winning to spare them of the task of depending on the results of other matches.

Interacting with reporters ahead of the match, Habas said all his players were fit and raring to go.

"Except Denzil Franco (who has been earlier ruled out of ISL) we have all the players fit to play. We are just keen on winning tomorrow's encounter against Goa and make it to the play-offs, we are not thinking too far ahead or depending on other teams for our qualification," he said, ahead of the side's practice session at the Salt Lake stadium here.

On Ethiopian striker Fikru Teferra's recent lacklustre form and the team's below-par performances in the last few matches, the Spaniard said that there was nothing wrong with the star striker.

"Nothing is wrong with Fikru, we will try and play the football we had been playing in the first few matches," he said.

The Spaniard also insisted that ATK were working hard to correct their mistakes, and hoped that it would fetch the side the desired results.

Asked if midfielder Cavin Lobo - who struck a brace when ATK won against FC Goa in the first leg - would play Wednesday, Habas said: "Today after training we will decide which of the players can feature in tomorrow's game."
