HIL appoints foreign umpires for 2015 edition


New Delhi, Nov 20 (IANS): Hockey India League (HIL) Thursday announced a panel of foreign umpires for its 2015 edition scheduled from Jan 22 to Feb 22.

The panel consists of experienced umpires from around the world who have conducted many matches in reputed tournaments.

David Tomlinson of New Zealand, Grant Hundley of South Africa, Jakub Mejzlik of the Czech Republic, Marcin Grochal of Poland, German Montes de Oca of Argentina and Francisco Vazquez of Spain will be seen umpiring the matches.

HIL will also be appointing a panel of Indian umpires and technical officials.

“The league is in its third year and hence it is necessary we take it a notch higher. The entire panel of umpires coming on board are esteemed and well known for their work towards the game around the world. HIL welcomes each one on board and will look forward to their contribution this season,” HIL CEO Elena Norman said.
