2015 Copa America reveals Culpeo fox as official mascot

Rio de Janeiro, Nov 18 (IANS): A football-loving young Culpeo fox has been chosen as the official mascot of the 2015 Copa America, to be held June 11-July 4 in Chile, but its name is still to be determined.

According to the official website of the 2015 Copa America, the reason behind choosing the fox as the mascot was its easy visibility throughout Chile and South America, as the animal has habitats in many different places on the continent, reports Xinhua.

A cartoon video released by the official website Monday showed that the fox has travelled to all of the countries that will contest the continental tournament, inviting all its friends to join him in the festival of the South American football.

Fans have been invited to vote for the names of the mascot and were given three options to choose from - Zincha, Andi and Kul - with each name carrying a specific meaning.

Twelve teams will participate in the continental mega event.
