Silver and Gold Glitter at Abu Dhabi Karnataka Rajyotsava celebration

Abu Dhabi, Nov. 10:  Abu Dhabi witnessed a rare event when the Abu Dhabi Dhabi Karnataka Sangha – the cultural organization of Abu Dhabi Kannadigas celebrated the Suvarna Rajyotsava  Day  at a glittering ceremony at Indian Social and Cultural Centre in Abu dhabi on Friday 10 November 2006. 




The glittering ceremony was attended by  large number audience from various parts of Karnataka State.   The hall was packed to its capacity to witness this special occasion. 

The occasion was special because, the Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha was awarded the highest award of Kaanaka State the 'Suvarna Karnataka Rajyostsava' Award for their outstanding service to the gulf  Kannadigas, which also incidently celebrates their Silver Jubiliee this year. 



The event was filled with cultural programmes, including classical dances, traditional dances, Bharathanatyam, Kannada songs, Group songs by various communities.    

The coveted award was brought in to the ISC auditorioum by Sarvotam Shetty, with beating of drums and with an umbrella.   The procession was lead by Dr. B. R. Shetty – the Patron of Abu Dhabi and UAE Kannadigas.  It was an emotional moment to all present, as it is the first time a Gulf based Karnataka Organization has been awarded with this coveted award for rendering  yeomen service to the community. 


The day long event began with a welcome speech by Ananth Rao, with a prayer song, followed by the melodious  and sentimental Kannada group  song sung by Abu Dhabi's Konkani Community and later various dances were followed. 

In the later part  a traditional lamp was lit by Honourable Home and Law  Minister of Karnataka H.E. M. P. Prakash who was the Chief Guest, along with Dr. B. R. Shetty, Sarvotham Shetty and others.



 

In his speech the Minister, applauded the achievements of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, their,leaders and dedication by the committee members to the Kannadigas of Abu Dhabi. and the UAE  

Dr. B. R. Shetty, thanked all Kannadigas for their patronage and commended the achievements of all committee members of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha for their dedicated work.  


In his speech Sarvotham Shetty, who is the president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, who had received the award on behalf of the Sangha on November 2, 2006 in Bangalore, India, dedicated this award to all the people of Karnataka and the devoted and hard working members of his committee.  He asked the peoples blessings to help him achieve their numerous goals. 

At this auspicious occasion and in commemoration of the Abu  Dhabi Karnataka Sangha's Silver Jubilee celebration and on achieving the prestigious award, a website was launched by Honourable  M. P. Prakash the Home Minister of Karnataka, to a thunderous applauses. 

A video clipping on the award ceremony and the history of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha was presented through audio visual presentation.  

Prof. Krishne Gowde the renowned humourist gave his witty and humourous talk to the audience conveying a message, which went well with the audience with a appreciative applause.  

The event was truly a mixture of Siiver and Gold which glittered at Indian Social Centre.   Hats off to the Organizers of  this beautiful event.
