'Kutram...' has something for everyone: Actress Radhika

Chennai, Oct 27 (IANS): Upcoming Tamil thriller "Kutram Kadithal", which has been selected for three popular film festivals, is a movie that will "communicate to the masses" and has something for everybody in the audience, says actress Radhika Prasidhha.

"Kutram Kadithal", which was screened recently at Mumbai Film Festival, has also been selected in the Indian Panorama section of International Film Festival of India and Zimbabwe International Film Festival.

"Every film has the urge to communicate to the masses. Director Bramma has packaged the film in such way that it will be received by everyone. There's something in the film that will appeal to everybody in the audience," Radhika told IANS.

"You can't ignore 'Kutram Kadithal' as a film festival product. It has a message that everyone needs to know and I think that will help it to become commercially successful as well," she said.

Radhika feels film festivals take movies "beyond geographical boundaries".

"I feel the acknowledgement you get from film festivals is very encouraging. When you've completed a film and are wondering whether it's going to work or not, the response you get from a cinema-literate jury in a festival, means a lot," she said.

"Kutram Kadithal", which has a hidden social message, is the story of five different characters and how their lives get connected through a certain incident on a particular day.

Radhika, who is making her cinematic debut, plays a newly married woman in the film.

"The role involves lot of emotion, romance and sensitivity a woman goes through at the beginning of her marriage," she said.

The "scope for performance" attracted Radhika to the role.

"When I read the script, it moved me. I felt like I was lucky to play such an intense role in beginning of my career. It's a performance-oriented character that has given me the confidence to take up any role in the future," she added.

Radhika landed the role after one of the producers saw her in "Nyaayiru Maalai", a Tamil web series on online videosharing platform Youtube.

"The director and I come from a theatre background. We had common acquaintances and that also helped us come together on this project. The audition process lasted two days and I was lucky enough to finally get selected," said Radhika, who had to undergo one month-long workshop to prepare for her role.

She is currently trying her hands at modelling after her intense experience with "Kutram Kadithal".
