London, Oct 25 (IANS): Going on a date? Don't let the nervousness or excitement take over your style judgement.

First appearances can make all the difference so you want to wear something that not only expresses your style and personality but also makes you feel comfortable, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Not being comfortable with what you're wearing will not let you enjoy yourself, and that is the most important thing, isn't it?

Celebrity stylist Katie Greengrass provides her top style tips for a date. The style tips are for both men and women, and give advice to ensure what you’re wearing reflects your personality.

Here are Greengrass’ top dating style tips:

*Guys: Iron your clothes. This is so important as sloppy styling makes it appear as if you haven't made an effort.

*Girls: Don't overdress. Towering heels and too much make up might scare him off. Keep it simple and stylish.

*Guys: You could follow some of these tips too. Nicely cut and styled hair, a fresh aftershave and an overall well groomed look will definitely earn you points.

Girls: It's all about grooming - good nails, nice hair, glowing skin, nice perfume - guys appreciate the little things!

*Guys: Go easy on the designer labels. If you're meeting her online you want to make sure she isn't after your wallet!

*Girls and Guys: Don't wear too many layers - the sweaty look won't do you many favours on a first date.
