Beltangady, Oct 19: Two young men were killed after the bike they were travelling rammed into an electric pole in front of the SDM College at Ujire near here on Wednesday October 18 evening.  A college student too has been injured in the accident and he has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore.

The deceased have been identified as Damodar Poojary (21) and Yashodhar Moolya (25), while the injured has been identified as SDM College student Sridhar from Kalmanja.

The accident occurred on the double road in front of the SDM College.  A jeep which was going towards Dharmasthala stopped suddenly.  This was not expected by the bike riders who were just behind the jeep.  To avoid a possible accident, the rider turned the bike towards the right but ended up ramming into the electric pole which is in the middle of the road and serves as road divider.

The impact of the accident was such that the electric pole broke from the bottom and fell on the road while there was pool of blood in the area.  Both Damodar and Yashodhar died on the spot.

Dadmodar was the son of Ramappa Poojary and was the pygmy collector for the toddy tappers' association.  Yashodhar was the son of Kittu Moolya.  He was working as salesman.  Both the victims were bachelors.

The Beltangady police have registered a case in this regard.
