NRAI congratulates Bindra

London, Sep 23 (IANS): National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Raninder Singh congratulated Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra Tuesday for winning his first Asian Games individual medal, a men's 10 metre air rifle bronze.

Bindra had earlier also led his teammates to another bronze in the men's 10m air rifle team event at Incheon.

"Abhinav has once again proven to be the champion that he is. He has now the unique distinction of being the only Indian athlete in history winning one of every international medal on offer," said Raninder.

"As president of NRAI I would like to assure all that Abhinav shall be making all efforts to re-emulate his Olympic gold performance at Rio. The way we want to see him win the gold, even he wants his medal back and NRAI will not be found wanting in support to him in this noble effort."

Raninder, who was with the Indian contingent participating at the World Championships in Spain, also congratulated the other members of the shooting team who clinched the metal Tuesday.

"I would also like to congratulate Sanjeev Rajput and Ravi Kumar along with Abhinav for the splendid performance in the 10m air rifle performance which helped them procure the bronze."

Bindra announced his retirement from shooting Monday but later said in a tweet that he might return to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
