Mangalore, Sep 28: Allama S of Presidency School stole the limelight by bagging title with 6 points in as many rounds in the Under 7 Boys Chess Championship held recently by Derik's Chess School under the auspices of Chess Association, Dakshina Kannada.

 

Allama won against the top seeded Anantharam R U of Sharada Vidyalaya who had to be content for second place with 5 points. Rahul Peter of Presidency School scored 3.5 points to secure the 3 place. Chinmay H of BGS School stood fourth with 2.5 points.
 
In the Under 7 Girls category, Top seeded Ankitha R of Sharada Vidyalaya bagged the honour with 5 points in 5 rounds. Swathi Baliga of Carmel School scored 4 points to secure the second place. Rashmi Kamath of Canara Primary bagged the third place with 3 points. Archana Baliga from Canara Primary was placed fourth with 2 points.
 
In the Under 9 boys category, Aneesh Charith of SVS Bantwal had it easy by scoring full 5 points to claim the honour. Sakshath U K of Mahalakshmi School, Kaup and Nihal Pereira of St Theresa were placed second and third respectively with 3.5 points. Sourav Baliga from St Aloysius scored 3 points to secure fourth place.
 
In the Under 9 Girls category, in a closely fought tie breaker Andrea D'Souza of St Theresa toppled her schoolmate and Asian Level player Shalon Pais to claim the honour.

Shalon Pais had to be content for second place. Both had scored 4.5 points each. Mytili Ranjan of St Mary's and Nidhi Rai of Ladyhill School were placed third and fourth with 3 and 1.5 points respectively.
 
On the 2 day event K Subramanya Kamath, Chartered Accountant distributed the prizes to the winners. Prasanna Rao, secretary, CADK, Guruprasad, coordinator, DCS, Deric Pinto, administrator DCS and Chandrashekhar Bhandari, deputy arbiter were also present on the occasion.
