Mangalore, Sep 21: Taranath Kalladka, chief of reporting section of leading Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka, who passed away on Tuesday September 19 was paid rich tributes by his colleagues and friends during the condolence meeting held at Hotel Srinivas on Wednesday September 20.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of DK Kannada Sahitya Parishat said that Taranath was a man of words.  "Spending time with him was always joyful.  He had a pleasant smile on his face even in times of great difficulties and problems," he added.

Vittal MLA Padmanabh Kottari who was present on the occasion said that Taranath always buried his pains and problems within and strived to keep others happy. "He never bothered or bogged anyone with his problems.  Instead, he tried to help those who were in trouble," opined he.  Mayor K Ashraf said that Taranath was a great role model to the budding journos.

 

Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association president Ravindra Shetty, Mangalore Press Club president Anand Shetty, Udayavani bureau chief Manohar Prasad, Vijaya Karnataka sub-editor Krishna Bhat, Raghuram of The Hindu, Chidambar Bykampady from Kannada Prabha, Nandagopal from Times of India, Prakash Pandeshwar of Jaya Kirana and Sadashiv Das from Das Prakash Media  were among the journos who were present on the occasion.

Mangalore Bar Association president Monappa Bhandari, corporators Diwakar, Shashidhar Hegde, Krishnappa Mendon, MIFT founder president M G Hegde, Mangalore BJP president Nitin Kumar, district BJP secretary Nalin Kumar Rai etc were also present on the occasion.
