Mumbai, Sep 9: The Maharashtra Konkan Association celebrated nativity at the Ghyan Ashram, Andheri (E) here on Friday September 8.
Fr Hubert Goveas, assistant parish priest of Jerrimeri St Jude’s Church, conducted the Novena. He also blessed the corn during the festive Mass. The members of the association then distributed the blessed corn to the gathering. Hymns were sung by Victor Concessao and Jerry D’Souza’s troupe.
The children also offered flowers to the statue of Mother Mary, as a tradition. Sugarcane was distributed to the children.
John D’Silva, president, Fuddar Prathistan, Lawrence D’Souza Kamani, teacher Mary Pinto, Jacintha D’Silva and G Mendonca Amboli, were present on the occasion.
Walter D’Souza, president of the association, welcomed the gathering, while Leo Fernandes compered the programme. Senior artiste Harryboy conducted the prayer session.
A family agape prepared with blessed corn was arranged as part of the traditional feast of Nativity.
