Malaysia-Tajikistan friendly to start with moment of silence


Dushanbe (Tajikistan), Aug 8 (IANS): Vice President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datu Sudarsono Osman, also the national team manager, has proposed a moment of silence before their friendly match with Tajikistan Friday in memory of those who died on board Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17/MAS17) was a scheduled international passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur that was shot down on July 17 over Ukraine killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.

Kick-off of the match is Friday at 6 p.m. (local time). The match will be played at Pamir Central Stadium here, reports Xinhua.

It is the first time that Tajikistan will take on Malaysia.

In FIFA rankings, Malaysia is currently in 153rd place with 149 points, while Tajikistan occupies the 126th position.
