Indian para-swimmer Gayakwad misses out on bronze


Glasgow, July 29 (IANS): Indian para-swimmer Sharath Gayakwad missed out on the men's 200-metre individual medley SM8 bronze finishing fourth in the final of the event at the Tollcross Swimming Centre here in the Commonwealth Games.

England's Oliver Hynd won the gold in two minutes and 22.86 seconds ahead of Australia's Jesse Aungles, who took silver in 2:31.25. Aungles' compatriot Blake Cochrane clinched the bronze clocking 2:32.72 late Monday.

The 23-year-old Gayakwad clocked 2:37.17 -- 14.31 seconds behind the winner.

Sri Lanka's Amila Kumarasiri finished fifth and last.
