Panaji, Aug 11: Hutch Goa Football League, India's premier regional football league, would be kicked off on August 15 with three major national soccer teams besides eight locals teams locking horns for the prestigious title.
 
"The Goa Professional League is the GFA's flagship event which is entering its 50th year. We are extremely excited as we now have India's telecom giant hutch and kingfisher, getting associated with the league," Savio Messiah, secretary, GFA, told media persons on Friday.
GFA today announced the league schedule in presence of Rajiv Kohli, chief executive officer, Hutch.

The league which was started in 1951 and was called Senior division league until 1998 and later named as The Goa Professional League, which is now titled Hutch Goa football league.

Goa's premier soccer clubs including Dempo Sports club, Sporting clube de Goa and Chruchill Bros along with eight other teams would be fighting for the title. "Matches would be played at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium, Fatorda, and Goa football association's grounds at Duler (north goa), Tilak maidan (Vasco) and Panaji," Messiah said.

He stated that the season would begin with the charity match on August 12 while officially league would be kicked off on August 15 at Duler ground. The first league match, on August 15, would be between defending champions Dempo sports club and Churchill Bros.

On the same day, the second match would be between Salgaoncar sports club and Raia sporting club at Tilak ground.
