New Delhi, Jul 27: India had to be content with a bronze medal in the junior girls' team event at the 12th Asian Junior Table Tennis Championship at Kitakyushu, Japan, when they lost to China in the semi-final today.

The Indian eves went down 3-0 to the Asian powerhouses while the junior boys team finished fifth at the event.

Indian girls had made it to the last four by pulling off a thrilling 3-2 upset over Chinese Taipei yesterday. The win also earned them a spot in the World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Cairo.

The boys team had bowed out of the championship after losing to Japan at the quarterfinal stage.
