New Delhi, June 10 (IANS): Rising Spanish star Jese Rodriguez leads the brigade of most searched young football stars in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
With the biggest sporting event on the planet just a couple of days away, young soccer stars are drawing huge attention in the online space. Club soccer stars, both seasoned and young, will be pushing their limits for their national team in their quest to win the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy.
Interestingly, while the seasoned stars ruled the online buzz, the young rising stars of football are also making an impact with fans searching for them on Google.
Rodriguez, the rising star of the Spanish Football team, is leading searches on Google. He was the third highest goal scorer for Spain in the U-20 World Cup tournament in Turkey and was also awarded with the bronze boot.
Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Coutois stands second on Google Search popularity. At the age of 21, he is regarded as of one of the finest goalkeepers, whose performance at the World Cup will be closely watched.
Isco, another young Spanish player, stood third on Google search popularity of young soccer stars. With brilliant skills and an impressive run, he can prove to be one of the biggest attractions and can play a vital role for Spain in FIFA World Cup 2014.
French star Paul Pogba takes the fourth spot among the top searched young stars on Google. He has already lifted the trophy of FIFA U-20 World Cup last year. In the same tournament he was awarded with the golden ball. After having played for Manchester United, he is now playing for Italian club Juventus.
Signed by the number one club of Germany, Mario Gotze from Germany finds fifth place among the top searched players playing their maiden World Cup this year in Brazil.
Some other young soccer stars who will be making their World Cup debut in Brazil include French Soccer star Raphael Varane, Englishman Raheem Sterling and Alex Oxlade.
