Japan wins its maiden Thomas Cup title


New Delhi, May 25 (IANS): The Japanese badminton team won their first ever World Men's Team Championship to lift the Thomas Cup at the Siri Fort Sports Complex here Sunday.

After reaching their maiden final, Japan made sure they tasted success in their first attempt by drubbing five-time champions Malaysia 3-2 in a tense and thrilling final.

Losing semifinalists China and Indonesia took home the bronze.
