Germany's Lars Bender ruled out of World Cup in Brazil

Berlin, May 24 (IANS): Germany suffered another injury blow as midfielder Lars Bender was ruled out of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to a thigh injury.

Bayer Leverkusen's defensive midfielder suffered an injury on his right thigh during the training camp in South Tyrol, the German Football Association (DFB) said Friday, reports Xinhua.

"It is very disappointing for all of us to lose a player due to an injury. I am personally very sorry for Lars. He absolutely wanted to make it to Brazil," Germany coach Joachim Loew said.

Joachim Loew already has his hands full with key players such as Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira, Manuel Neuer and Philipp Lahm limited to light training.

The "Nationalmannschaft" will continue their training camp in South Tyrol until May 31.
