Delhi temperature soars to 42 degrees, similar Thursday expected


New Delhi, April 30 (IANS): The national capital experienced the hottest day of the month of April, as the maximum temperature reached 42.1 degrees Celsius, three notches above average. The Met office forecasts that Thursday will be as hot.

After recording the hottest April 29 since 2010, Tuesday, Wednesday's temperature was recorded even higher. 

With temperatures soaring high, residents of Delhi had a tough time.

"I ride a bike to office. Today the heat made it difficult to ride," Sunny Singh, an IT professional, told IANS.

The day's minimum temperature settled at 22.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season's average.

Thursday's maximum and minimum temperature is likely to hover around 42 and 24 degrees Celsius respectively. 

"The skies will be clear Thursday," said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) official.

Tuesday was the hottest April 29 since 2010, with the maximum temperature recorded at 41 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, while the minimum was 22.6 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season's average.
