Shipping ministry official arrested by CBI


Chennai, April 30 (IANS): Shipping ministry official K.Sakthi was arrested for demanding a bribe of Rs.25,000, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said Wednesday.

In a statement issued here, the CBI said Sakthi, posted as deputy director in directorate of lighthouses and lightships here, had demanded Rs.25,000 as bribe from a contractor for releasing his dues and also sanction additional work.

On a complaint by the contractor, a trap was laid Tuesday and Sakthi was caught while accepting the bribe and remanded to custody.
