Indian, Chinese soldiers celebrate harvest festival at Nathu La


Kolkata, April 15 (IANS): The Indian harvest festival was jointly celebrated by personnel of the Indian and Chinese armies at a special 'Border Personnel Meeting' (BPM) held at Nathu La border post in east Sikkim.

The respective delegations, comprising eight officers, from both sides were led by officers of the rank of brigadier or equivalent. The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere and the PLA delegation members wished their Indian counterparts on the occasion, according to a defence ministry release.

A friendly volleyball match between two teams comprising a mix of People's Liberation Army and Indian troops was also played.

The keenly-played match was enjoyed by the delegation members and the PLA representatives expressed keenness to have more such sporting activities in the near future with the Indian Army, the release said.
