World Cup final ticket phase to begin


Rio de Janeiro, March 12 (IANS): Football's governing body FIFA will Wednesday make available the final batch of World Cup tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tickets will go on sale early Wednesday on FIFA's official web site, Xinhua quoted the the body as saying.

Some 160,000 tickets will be offered for group and knockout-phase matches.

Seven World Cup fixtures have already been sold out: Brazil-Croatia (Sao Paulo), England-Italy (Manaus), USA-Portugal (Manaus), the final (Rio de Janeiro), a semifinal (Belo Horizonte) and two quarterfinals (Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre).

According to FIFA, 2.3 million tickets have already been allocated for the June 12-July 13 tournament.
