Bangalore: Rowdy killed, cop seriously injured in shootout

Bangalore, Jan 9 (DHNS):
Munna, known as a ‘Sharp Shooter’ in criminal circles, was killed and a police sub-inspector critically injured in a shootout incident here on Wednesday.

Mallikarjun Bande, PSI (Crime) of Station Bazar Police Station, shot at point-blank range by the rowdy, has been admitted to Basaveshwar Hospital with critical injuries to his head.

His condition is said to be serious. Assistant Sub-Inspector Uddandappa of Roza Police Station, who received bullet injuries, has been shifted to Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh for treatment. Another PSI, Murali of Bazar Station, who suffered a bullet injury on his ear, is said to be out of danger.

Raid

The incident occurred when a crime team raided a house on Dargah Road following a tip-off  that Munna was in possession of illegal arms and staying there. He was also suspected to have been involved in a daylight armed robbery at a private finance company in the city recently.

Police returned fire when Munna shot at them. He suffered multiple bullet wounds and is said to have died on the way to hospital. Based out of Mumbai, he used to visit Gulbarga periodically in connection with his underworld activities.

Inspector General of Police Wazir Mohammed Ahmed of North-Eastern Range and Superintendent of Police Amit Singh visited the shootout spot. Plan to shift the wounded PSI in a helicopter to Hyderabad is said to have been dropped due to his critical condition.

The incident has evoked anger among the people of Gulbarga with several organisations staging a protest demonstration in front of the hospital against the collapse of law and order and failure of the police to contain ever-increasing crime.

RIP Bande Sir. India needs more courageous officers like you.
Now that we have lost one of the bravest officers of Karnataka, we have to introspect & criticize Home Minister Shinde’s unconstitutional proposal to ask states to review terror cases against the minorities.

We abuse Police a lot.But their work is very dangerous, especially with such Rowdys.Nobody feels pity when one dies. After all, they too are humans and afraid about their their life just like us.Its but very bad there are some Police who are easily Change sides and so nobody believes them and goondas get upper Hand.In future if Police dpt.stay firm and punish the culprits without accepting haftas, and they should promise a praemie for the best Police who does a good work, may iImprove the Situation in the future. Why dont they wear bulletproof Dress when they go to hunt the goons?

The police have done a good job. But this Rowdy has a real name(pl find) and all these yrs he was moving around us carrying a gun without a license. He is armed criminal and when he fires at police, it is not going to be fake encounter. His gang and the boss must be still operating from Gulburga.

Gulbarga police did a good job but very late, as usual in films, there may be still plenty of goons who are living freely and police is well aware of them, but they dont take any actions until they attack police personnel if these goons attacks common people police just register the case and leave it , any robbery, kidnapping, rape extortion just they take their share leave them. We want our police to be believed by every one of us. I hope this incident will open the eyes of police dept. And hope they will start to clean the city from these garbage and make it free from every crime good luck police and be honest towards you duties.

The cops are expected to use bullet proof chest guard and helmet in dealing with armed criminals. The Police should take serious steps to avoid such lethal injuries with proper protective gears.

we are living in an unequal society. we have hundred and hurdles to fell all are equal. Goondas and anti socials are the products of this unequal society. you can not go on killing another human just because he or she is anti social. they are forced to jump into the mess and start to live a different way of life. We need to sympathize with these people and also possibly give them a second chance to live a better life or let him/her get birth in a better circumstance.

Police help initially to increase the number of crimes in the city. They can only blast at the common Innocent people.

I have 0 respect towards them. Even if two corrupted police would have been killed in the incident, it would have been good :)

If police know their record who are the criminals and underworld dons who do this crime again and again, please you police, do your best to kill these people instantly in a shootout. Just find out where they are going and do a good job to finish these people completely. You catch them and leave them again and again and see what happen an innocent cop life is in critical danger. Please we dont need these GOONDAS in our society. KILL THEM, KILL THEM, PLEASE KILL THEM.

Excellent! We do not need these criminals in our society. Killing them in encounter is the easiest way to clean these unwanted creatures. But if you give powers to the police to do encounters, again the police will misuse their power.Let all of us, including police force follow the constitution of India and trust the Judiciary system.
