Mumbai, Apr 28: Nephew of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, Danish Parkar, who had been absconding after being booked by the Mumbai police in an assault case two weeks ago, was among two persons killed in a road accident in the neighbouring Raigad district of Maharashtra, the police said today.

Danish was returning to Mumbai with four friends in a four-wheeler last night when the mishap occurred as their vehicle collided with a truck at Kashine village, within jurisdiction of the Mangaon police station on the Mumbai-Goa Highway, the police said.

While Danish and one of his friends died on the spot, three others were seriously injured and were admitted to KEM Hospital in Mumbai, the police added.

Danish's lawyer Shyam Keswani confirmed the mishap and the subsequent death of Danish and his friend.

Danish was the son of Haseena Parkar, the elder sister of Dawood Ibrahim, and was a resident of Pakhmodia Street in central Mumbai. He was absconding after the J J Marg police booked him two weeks ago for assaulting a neighbour.

Earlier last month, Danish was booked by the Byculla police for allegedly extorting money from a central Mumbai trader.
