BSKB Holds Cultural Programme at Sion

Mumbai: The women's wing of Bombay South Kanara Brahmins Association organized the gokula mela and other cultural programmes at Gokul Auditorium at Sion (E) recently.

Shailaja A Shetty, the working president of women's wing of Bombay Bunts Association inaugurated the programme.

Public prosecutor Rohini Salian was the guest of honour on the occasion.  She honoured Suman Chiplunkar and Veena Shastri for their immense contribution in the field of education and music respectively.

Chitra Melmane and Shailini Rao were also present on the occasion.  Chandravati Rao welcomed the gathering and Tara Rao proposed the vote of thanks.

Adikavi Pampa Memorial Programme Held at Kalina

Mumbai: 'Pampa Memorial' programme was held at IDA Auditorium of Kalina near Santacruz (E) during the silver jubilee celebrations of the Kannada department of Mumbai University recently.

D A V Prasanna of Bangalore delivered a lecture on the topic during the valedictory ceremony.  Uma Nagbhushan, principal of the Mysore Music University of Dombivili recited poems on the occasion. Dr Vaman Bendre of Dharwad presided over the endowment lecture on noted Kannada poet Dr Bendre. 

The valedictory ceremony of the silver jubilee functions of the Kannada department of the Mumbai University were held on the same evening which were presided over by Dr Taltaje Vasant Kumar.

Five noted scholars who have contributed immensely for Kannada literature Dr Sunitha Shetty, Dr G D Joshi, Dr G V Kulkarni, Dr Vishwanath Karnad, Dr Sanjeev Shetty and Dr K Raghunath were honoured on the occasion.

Chembur Karnataka Sangha - Institutions annual day

Karnataka Sangha Chembur's educational institutions' joint annual day was held in Vidyasagar Ghatla in Chembur.

Dr Gunapal B Shetty presided over the function. Jaya C Suvarna was the chief guest, with Merkala Tyampanna Shetty was the guest of honour.

While students presented variety entertainment programmes, the Sangha members staged a yakshagana called 'Abhimanyu Kalaga'.
