Brazil won't say no to Costa's Spain switch

Rio de Janeiro, Oct 7 (IANS): Brazil will not object to Diego Costa's wish to play for Spain, the South American nation's football federation has said.

The Brazil-born striker is awaiting a decision by world football's governing body FIFA over his availability for his adopted country.

"Whether a player wants to play here or there, this organisation won't be the one to say no," Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) vice president Marco Polo del Nero told O Estado de Sao Paulo Sunday.

Costa admitted for the first time Sunday that he wanted to represent Spain and called on FIFA to decide his eligibility.

"The decision has already been taken," the 24-year-old said.

Costa continued his rich vein of form Sunday, scoring both goals in Atletico Madrid's 2-1 home victory over Celta Vigo.

He is now the outright leader on La Liga's goalscoring chart with 10 goals from eight matches this season.
