Mangalore, Feb 25: The Mangalore Central Excise Commissionerate celebrated Central Excise Day at Shanthi Nilaya hall on Friday February 24. Speaking on the occasion Central Excise commissioner John Joseph called upon the employees of the department to enforce the duty of collecting the tax, which would help in the development of the country.

“Put in honest efforts but remember that every single rupee collected contributes to the development of the country,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, SDM College of Business Management principal Dr K Devaraj said that the commissionerate make the people realise that by paying tax they can contribute to the economic development of the country. Without revenue the government cannot survive, he added.

Commissioner of Central Excise (Appeals) Jayprakash, Assistant vice president M/s West Coast Paper Mills, Dandeli, P K Mudra and honorary secretary Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry M Padmanabha were also present on the occasion.
